More Bonding Days For Smaller Businesses

Team building events are nothing new and lots of companies have utilised them for staff bonding and various other work enhancements for years. The idea for using team building days was initially used among the biggest and most diverse companies who had lots of people in lots of different places and who needed all of them to be able to communicate. This then filtered down into the more modestly sized and independent businesses who wanted didn't want to miss a trick. These days business have moved on and branched off into many different area. There has also been a dramatic increase in the number of people basing their businesses at home or using the Internet for the majority of their trading. According to leading team building businesses, these companies too are increasingly seeing the benefits of running bonding and communication sessions themselves.

The findings were released by a group of corporate hospitality companies in London, England. They have found that even though a lot of home based and internet based businesses comprise of smaller teams, they often do not communicate that effectively. There is a tendency to email each other information or questions, rather than sit down to discuss issues face to face. On top of this, many companies such as these have multiple bases and have employees scattered around that never even meet each other properly. Additionally, home and internet business employees tend not be that active in their job and are one of the most at risk categories for suffering weight problems and heart disease.

The group who released the findings documented a 30% increase in the number of team building days booked last year by home and internet based businesses (the most popular being corporate cooking events) and suggested this is down to an increased focus on work efficiency. It has been reported by bigger businesses that their workforce productivity increased by some 50% as a result of running more team building days and their were less instances of people being off sick. The smaller businesses want these benefits as well and it is only natural that they are starting to embrace team building events. As well as team building events, many companies are increasing their spend on hospitality events such as Cheltenham hospitality days in an attempt to improve staff job satisfaction.

Which dress should I wear?

Going to a friend's wedding at the Spanish Oaks Ranch. It's at 4pm. Should I wear the more simple blue dress or the flashier gold one?

And also, are bubble dresses still in? I'm thinking of letting out the bubble hem on the gold dress.
Wow! I was leaning towards the blue one, but looks like everyone is liking the gold. Maybe the picture doesn't do blue justice. It's really pretty too :)

Go for the blue one. It's more of a classic dress for a wedding. The gold one might be too shiny and flashy for a wedding, ticking off the bride by outshining her!!! ;)

Good luck and have a great time!!!

SOPA Strikedown Aftermath: Old Media Cannot Tell The Narrative Of One Million People (Techdirt)

As the political victory from the SOPA strikedown sinks in, reflections over
old media's role take its place. We know that old media -- unidirectional
media such as TV, newspapers, radio -- barely covered SOPA at all. We also
know that this has political reasons, as their owners didn't want to draw
attention to the issue. But even at the apex of the fightback, on January 18,
old media barely mentioned what was happening. This is very noteworthy in
itself.

I can't see this in any other light than old media being **conceptually
unable** to tell the narrative of millions of people fighting against a
powerful few dozen. It's not just that they chose not to -- it's that their
very construction makes it as impossible for them to communicate those events
as it would be for a color-blind person to communicate the impressions of a
blue-period Picasso.

Old media, after all, is built on the premise of large organizations competing
for resources; its narrative is dependent on pitting two powerful
representatives against each other to portray their respective interests and
let them battle it out in public. Old media consists of large corporations
that can only ...
