Unbeatable security for anyone
There is an piece of land whose well-being falls under my responsibility at work. One of our customers is the owner of the land, which for some time during the year remains vacant. Described below is an account of how we were able to be successful with our security this year. twelve months ago we were unable to prevent the land from traveller occupation, as our defence was nothing more than a pile of soil.
I am not unsympathetic to the plight of travelling people, but I feel that official land should be made available to remove the temptation to squat private sites. This policy should come from local government, or perhaps from the top and could include some form revenue raising scheme. Presumably the travellers would have a sort of income, and could contribute to the quality of the site which would feel part of their community. As long as there is somewhere that is available, these people are not too bothered where it is. If it happens to be your land that is the 'somewhere' - then tough is how they will think!
Until the situation is resolved and all parties are unequivocally happy, there will always be a running battle to protect the land from ‘abuse’. This is what was facing us for this year, not a lot different to an individual searching for vacant property security. One of the routes that I had considered for this task was to appoint the services of part time security guards. Personally I don't favour this method as it involves covering a large area outside, and a small group of guards would struggle against an organised group of travellers.
The way we resolved the problem was to use a local security firm, who were able to demonstrate a good method of protecting the land. This method used interlocking concrete barriers, which were delivered and assembled in a rapid time. The good thing about this is they don't have to be a permanent solution, as they can be quickly and easily removed without much fuss. You can even customise them to reflect the styles and colours of your company.

Video: Here's a drone's eye view of the final U.S. military convoys to leave
Iraq. Over eight years after the U.S. began one of its most controversial
wars, a flying robot loitered overhead to watch the military cross the Kuwait
border.
