Did anyone catch the Braves/Cubs game yesterday? Carlos Zambrano and Michael Barrett got into an argument in the dugout. To sum it up, Zambrano was getting lit up all game then in the middle of a big inning, Barrett had a passed ball when he was apparently crossed up by Zambrano, and in his haste to pounce on the ball and get the runner advancing to third, he fired it into left field, allowing the runner to score. After the inning, Zambrano confronted Barrett, twice pointing to his own head, as in “Think! Use your damn head!” Barrett’s back was to the camera so you couldn’t really see his face to read his lips, but he pointed out high onto the field, and it was easy to guess what he said: “Hey idiot, I’ll take responsibility for one of those 7 runs, what about the 13 hits and the other six runs?” Zambrano seemed to take exception to that and sucker punched Barrett before teammates got in to break it up. Piniella proceeded to send both players into the clubhouse where they started up again. Zambrano gave Barrett a pretty deep cut on his lips and was sent to Northwestern Hospital for further evaluation. Here is a video of the fight in the dugout.
