If you didn’t watch the game, it wasn’t even close. Tim Duncan and Tony parker wasted zero time showing how serious they were about getting back to the NBA Finals. The Spurs came out of the gates on fire scoring 34 points in the first quarter as opposed to the Jazz scoring only 15. The rest is history, literally.
Closing out Utah today is great news for the San Antonio. Not only because of the obvious reason of advancing, but also the extra rest they get. This is much needed considering they have a bunch of old guys on the team. The NBA Finals start next Thursday.
Utah has nothing to be ashamed of either. Hell of a run they had. They definitely shocked me getting this far. I actually had them losing to Houston in the first round. They picked up a great amount of experience during this run, something you can’t put a price on. Add that to the deadly combo of Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer, how can you NOT see them continue getting better in the future? If they can pick up a good Shooting Guard … watch out Western Conference!
Onto today’s results. Had a very nice day only losing my Tigers bet. They were up 3-1 and decided to get rolled 
I still have my 3 team teaser pending. The first two parts of it hit with the Spurs ML & Jazz/Spurs over 181.5 Now I just need the Cavs tomorrow to either win or lose by less than 12.5 points. I seriously doubt the Cavs lose by anything close to that and to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if they won. Still think the Pistons are the better team though.

Kobe Bryant was recently on AM 570 KLAC discussing everything thats been going on in the news about him. I strongly recommend everyone listen to this interview, especially the Kobe haters. He reveals the truth about the entire “driving Shaq out of LA” story. It is pretty clear the Lakers used him as a scapegoat. Not only that, the Lakers have lied and mislead him for the past 3 years about the direction they wanted to take the team. The main reason for him resigning was because Jerry Buss promised him they would rebuild immediately and continue to be title contenders. In reality, they were thinking more of a “long term” plan. They had no intentions of going out and trying to aggressively get players. Baron Davis, Carlos Boozer, Jason Kidd and Ron Artest are the big names that come to mind. All of them have called Kobe in the past expressing interest of wanting to play for the Lakers. Kobe has gone to upper management every time trying to get players in and every time the Lakers came up with an excuse. Lakers didn’t want Baron Davis because he is too injury prone. Lakers didn’t want Carlos Boozer because he can’t guard Forwards. Lakers didn’t get Jason Kidd because they didn’t want to give up Bynum. There is so much more to write, but the best thing to do, is to listen to the inteview. Listen to his voice, you can tell how sincere he really is.

Lebron hit two clutch free throws at the end game to put his team up 4 making it a two possession game with 4 seconds left. Thats game. I still could have won my Detroit +2 bet if Wallace hit that last three. Of course with my luck, that didn’t happen. How about that kid Daniel Gibson? He showed up to play today big time dropping 21 points (career high) 4/7 FGs 12/12 FTs. Gooden decided to show up too 19 pts 8/14 FGs 8 Rebs. Off topic, I don’t know whats going on with the officiating in the NBA. It’s been pretty terrible in both Conference Finals!
Dodgers and Tigers both came through for me which gives me a small winning day. About time the Tigers win, they were on a 5 game losing streak I believe? Somewhere around there. Sheffield went yard twice in that game. Good stuff since I have him on my fantasy baseball money league! Alright I’ll be back later tonight with tomorrow’s plays.

Looking for the Pistons to bounce back from the last game. Detroit is definitely the better team. I’m not sold on the Cavs. Hughes will likely be out but that really has nothing to do with my decision to make a play on Detroit. He hasn’t been playing very well so if anything, it helps Cleveland. I also expect better games from both Billups & Rip. I’m also looking at maybe playing the over. Vegas set the over/under another point lower. Thats 6 points lower from the start of this best of 7 game series. I wonder if both teams can keep up the defense.
Also playing the Dodgers tomorrow against the Nationals. With Brad Penny on the mound, I’m hoping he shuts down Washington. Penny has a 6-1 record and a 2.26 ERA this season.Starting this game for the Nationals will be Jason Simontacci. The righthander has a 4.37 ERA to go along with a 2-2 record this season. A lot of chalk though at -157. I expect this line to move up as it looks like a public play. I can only hope this isn’t a homer play.

Haha, did anyone watch Miss Universe tonight? Miss USA fell on her ass and still managed to get 4th. She probably would have won if she didn’t fall. Check it out.
The Spurs looked great tonight. Balanced attack across the board with 5 players scoring in double digits. Their defense looked solid holding the Jazz to 79 points although no one seems to be able to stop Deron Williams. I have to say, this series is over as I really can’t see the Jazz winning 3 straight games. I don’t even think the Jazz win game 5 to be honest.
Overall, it was a pretty good day going 3-1 +4.1 units. It looked like I was going to win the Tigers game too, but Todd Jones decided to blow the save and give up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. I’m glad with the results though after getting hit hard on Saturday going 1-5 -9.95 units. Record is updated including Saturdays days.
